Hello,

I had two surprises. First, for a 4-minute, 20-second project, rendering time went from 50 minutes with h265 (Ryzen 7 + 32MB of RAM) to 30 minutes with h265-nvenc and an Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti (VDPAU setting in preferences).

But when I did the exact same render with h265-nvenc and an Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, which is at least 200% more powerful, the rendering time remained exactly the same at 30 minutes!

Is this normal?

Extend a video clip on the timeline

I have a small problem. When adding a title to my video, a few seconds are missing where the last frame should continue to appear. The video, more precisely the last (still) frame on the timeline, needs to be a little longer. For example, the video clip is originally 40 seconds long, and I would like to extend it by 3 seconds using the last frame. Is there a way to do this?

Recently my Nvidia graphics card (GTX 1050 Ti) failed, and I found an AMD Radeon card (RX 590) in my spare parts, which worked for me and even seems to be working well. So I'm wondering which is better for use with CIN? AMD or Nvidia? (I read that for certain uses, CUDA with Nvidia is very efficient).

I'm new to Linux. In October last year (2025), I installed the Xubuntu distribution on my laptop, and I liked it so much that I ended up installing Ubuntu on my desktop computer. Since then, I haven't opened Windows even once (though I have a dual-boot setup).

I am not a programmer but a filmmaker, and I decided to migrate from Adobe software to open-source apps on this system, including Cinelerra-GG.

I have already edited one video on this operating system, but I used Kdenlive at the time because the Cinelerra-GG download site was down.

It was filmed in 2011, but I had discarded it due to image quality issues. Now, I’ve been able to rescue it thanks to the emergence of new technologies.

The video was conceived, assembled, and edited on the GNU/Linux Operating System, Ubuntu distribution. I used the free software Cinelerra-GG and processed underexposure image noise using FFmpeg via the terminal. I also removed some of the reverb from the factory warehouse and improved voice presence using Audacity.

The meaning (and purpose) of the video is to be an artistic, historical, and cultural representation; it is not intended to be explicit.

The directors of the play are Alma Farinelli and Pablo Goldberg.

I was trying to report a bug, but following the link 'Issue Tracker' under 'Support' gives me the following error:

No Results Found

How would I go about submitting a bug? The software is segfaulting a lot for me, especially with undo when working with nested assets.

Cinelerra latest on Ubuntu 24.04?

I am looking to run the latest Cinelerra on Ubuntu 24.04. Nvidea RTX 2070, AMD Ryzen 7 3800X ( 8 core), 32 Gigs RAM, M2 NVME, Motu M2 audio card.

I have tried Cinelerra in the past and it was not usable. Am checking in to see if that has changed. However, there seems to be no way to install Cinelerra GG on my current OS. If anyone knows a quick and easy way to test, do let me know!
