How GPU acceleration affects Render Performance

I just installed the proprietary nvidia drivers on mobile workstation and desktop workstation and I want to tell you the changes.

Instead of h264.mp4 I used h264_nvenc.mp4 as output.

mobile (i7-7700HQ 4c/8t; Quadro P4000, 32GB RAM):

• render time 7.50 min -> 4.50 min
• CPU utilization 8x100% -> 8x75%
• CPU temps 98°C (temp limit) -> 85°C
• GPU Temps 45° -> 56°

desktop (Xeaon 2697v3 14c/28t, GTX 1080, 64GB RAM)

The desktop workstation behaves very similar. I can't compare 1:1 because the video meanwhile has changed during edit.The difference is that the 28 Threads never have been fully utilized, no matter whether CPU or GPU accelerated.

The results in terms is of performance are very similiar to the mobile workstation.

• 10.00 min -> 6.40 min
• CPU temps 78°C (Fan starts at 72° to 100% RPM) -> 70°C
• GPU temps t -> t+10
