Loss of highlight detail, this time during rendering. My preferred intermediate codec is ProRes and this loss of detail only happens when rendering from Cin, it's OK from other NLEs. It is nothing to do with the latest Cin update, which I waited for before reporting this. It is not just ProRes, it is easier to say the only output options to give full detail are mkv, specifically HuffYUV, rather than list those that don't. I have tested all options that offer a visually lossless output.
I have tried all variations of ProRes and ProRes_ks, I have also purged the .bcast 5 folder and started again from scratch. I also tried from Kubuntu to eliminate it being a Manjaro thing.
Fair enough Phyllis, it's not bothering me now anyway.
May I ask quite what you mean by "for users who just take defaults"? Default what exactly?

What I meant by defaults was the user does a Render; the Render menu has the default File Format of FFMPEG and then they choose the File Type of "Pro" but it is not obvious to click on the Video wrench to change the Video Preset for "prores.pro" from "profile=2" quality to the more desirable end product of "profile=3". The wrench is just weird to an occasional user.
I still would like to get a resolution sometime on the loss of detail because this is not the first time it has been noted and I am quite sure it will come up again!
Thanks.

Well, if there is any way I can help, please say and I will do my best.
IgorBeg has made an intervention on the mailing list that I think it is useful to report also here:

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I woud like to ask if any headway has been made on this issue?
Short answer is "no". It is going to take a real pro to correctly analyze and get a solution for this loss of detail problem. They would have to be able to convey to a programmer/coder how to then fix the problem. The original author was highly competent in video/color editing as well as a programmer and we always hold out hope that someday he might be interested in helping.
Just wondering if you get the same problem by rendering with h265-12bit using the 8/10/12 bit appimage at:

I am rendering DNxHR currently so it's not causing me any grief, I was just wondering if ProRes has been fixed yet. It's no big deal if it hasn't.
No, I haven't tried rendering h265 with the multibit release, but I have tried it to see if it works OK on my system, which it does.
