An interesting list of 'drop-in replacements' of the major Adobe/Autodesk programs used in the graphics world. Most are for Windows/Mac, but there are also versions for Linux. Cinelerra is also mentioned:

@andreapaz It amazes me how little information these people get before they publish. But then it's Linux and free to use, so it can't possibly be any good, as we here all know! 😉
I agree with you. It is difficult to get out of one's "bias" to explore other things.
This just made me mad and I posted a comment there about what an insult it was to software programmers everywhere (most of who probably worked for free). But at least they tried Cinelerra and I expect it was the original HV version.
