How to crop a single track

Hi there. I love Cinelerra GG but I'm still a... "noob"...

I'm editing a video with some video tracks and I want to apply a crop on a single track. However, the crop tool applies the crop to every tracks. Is there a way to "tell" the compositor windows I just want to apply the crop to track X?

I've googled a lot and read some manuals but I found no way to do this.

Thank you

To the left of the main timeline where you have your videos loaded is the Patchbay where you see the names of each track, like Video 1, Audio 1, ...  In the Patchbay you see a green colored right arrow and then a red colored next symbol which is the "Arm track" (tooltip) icon.  Click on this icon and that track is disarmed so that it is not affected by cropping and most other editing command.  The name Video, Audio 1, ... will be surrounded by red so that you clearly see it is disarmed.  After you do the cropping, be sure to re-arm the tracks so it is subject to editing again -- just click that icon again.

I also tried that, but the crop is still applying to every tracks! 🙄

Unfortunately it doesn't work with the cropping feature in the viewer, I was wrong about that too. But you can work with the Projector and the Camera Automation.

Nice workaround! 😀

I'll try that! Thanks a lot!

You're welcome. I had to try it out myself until I came up with the solution, because I thought just like Phyllis that locking the track would work, but somehow the viewer actually applies it to all tracks, despite the track being locked.

Since I needed to also crop some part of the bottom of the track, I wasn't able to complete the work with projector and camera automation. So, I added a track below with a black image and used the mask tool. The final result was great! 🙂 It's also nice because I can also add a blue image instead and apply a chroma key to mix the result with another track below. 🙂

I'm getting less amateur... I guess... 🤔 😜

Sorry for the incorrect response earlier as somehow I replaced in my mind the "crop tool" with "simply deleting" - I guess I was thrown off by the statement that you were a "noob".

But, anyone who reads this, we need some good suggestions for the Compositor Crop Tool.  It does not seem to be very useful at this time, unless we are missing something.
