- Announcing the new build farm for Ubuntu, Debian, Suse, and Fedora here. Packages are generally for the current/latest release of several distros and there may be other Operating Systems added in the future. These packages are advantageous for users who prefer this method of upgrading packages on their computer. In addition, the packages are updated when there is a checked in change to GIT so that the very latest CinGG is ready earlier then the end of the month releases. Currently available are Ubuntu, Debian, Suse, and Fedora.
- FFmpeg has been upgraded to 6.1 from 5.1. Changes made that are most relevant to CinGG are:
- 1. New plugins/filters include Video of backgroundkey, ccrepack, zoneplate, and Audio of adrc (audio spectral dynamic range controller) and afdelaysrc. Plus a new mode has been added to the F_cropdetect filter to detect crop-area based on motion vectors and edges.
- 2. There are some additional encoders, decoders, and demuxers. Of note are WBMP (Wireless Application Protocol Bitmap) and Radiance HDR image support.
- 3. Numerous updates to codec libraries for latest industry standards and formats, many bug fixes, stability improvements, hardware acceleration improvements, and threading enhancements. These may not be obvious while using CinGG, but are beneficial in the background during execution.
- 4. VA-API encoding and decoding support for 10/12-bit 422, 10/12-bit 444 HEVC and VP9 support.
- 5. Very dependent on each user’s Hardware and Software setup, there is the possibility of taking advantage of ffmpeg 6.1’s support for AV1 hardware decoding across Intel, NVIDIA, and AMD GPUs and NVIDIA NVENC AV1 encoding support. However, at this time CinGG is still being built with dav1d at 0.5.1 so actual usage implementation may not be available in the supplied binaries.
- Libvpx has been upgraded to 1.13.1 from 1.13.0 in order to provide two security related fixes – 1 each for VP8 and VP9. It is basically binary compatible with the previous release.
- Tiff has been upgraded to 4.6.0 from 4.5.0 to include bug fixes, configuration changes, but no new or changed functionality.
