It is with dismay and sadness that I have to announce this devastating news that our highly esteemed developer W.P. Morrow aka Good Guy died in a traffic accident last Monday at the age of 66. Bill, as he also called in private, was as so often in his free time, out for sports riding his bicycle when he was hit by a truck. He was taken to hospital, but unfortunately he succumbed to his severe injuries.
This news is shocking and makes me speechless, although I find it extremely difficult to find words due to my sadness, I would like to remember him at this point.
A look back shows that, together with Phyllis, he has pushed this project forward with great passion, dedication and commitment. His ingenuity and creative solutions were always an enrichment for this project. He was never too comfortable to tackle even small problems and improvements to make the life of the users easier. You could tell that he enjoyed programming a lot. He enjoyed improving Cinelerra-GG and interacting with the community. He has acted selflessly and for the good of all, and through his commitment to free and open software, he has made this world a bit freer and better.
The gap he leaves behind is huge and filling it will be hard.
Thanks for everything dear Bill. It was a great honor and pleasure to work with you. You will be remembered. We will miss you. Rest in peace.
I express my condolences to Phyllis, his family and friends.
Sam
P.S.: Phyllis has expressed the wish to resume work on the project at a later date, currently she needs some time off, and to participate in the documentation and correspondence as usual. I will continue to support this project as before. The monthly releases cannot be offered in the same way at the moment. Minor changes and improvements will take place from time to time. We are open for new developers and hope for your support.
My condolences
Rest in peace. Your develops will drive progress for centuries.
Земля пухом. Соболезную.

Мои искренние соболезнования
My sincere condolences for the tragic death of this wonderful person and his good work with Cinelerra.
It will be my pleasure to continue helping in whatever way I can in this beautiful free and open source application project that is Cinelerra GG.
My sincere wishes that Good Guy has found the peace of returning to the universe of which we are all a part.
Your good work deserves to have you always present in our memory and all the admiration you deserve.
A big hug to your family, friends and loved ones.
My sincere condolence for the tragic end of the lead developer of Cinelerra-GG, aka W.P. Morrow! Live in peaceful eternity among us forever with your endeavour and encouragement. More developers will participate tomorrow. We will dust off the old gloves. Today, we lost one workforce, tomorrow we will multiply in infinite numbers. This is not the end, so please live among us being our inspiration. With love and respect! ❤🙏
Very impressed by such a sad event. Let’s keep Cinelerra alive in his honor.
Any help you need, please tell me
Just learned of this this morning after having been busy away from the forum, it is heartbreaking news! My deepest sympathies to Phyllis and their families. Keeping you in heart and mind right now, words fail miserably but please know you and Bill have touched more lives with this project than you will ever know. Every time I launch this program to do some work I will smile and think of the tremendous and inspiring work you both have done and I know this is only a tiny facet of your lives together that we have gotten to see, this big-picture loss must be so devastating, I’m so sorry!
Очень жаль. Соболезнуем
It makes me very sad that someone so supportive is no longer with us. A big hug for Phyllis, even though you don’t know me. I am just a user grateful for your work.
I have only just read this – very sad news.
My condolences.
I’m so sorry to hear this, only today in my remote location. It is tragic beyond belief. He seemed such a pioneer and generous giver of his time to help all with the project, even though I had never met him.
My prayers be with the family, that the eternal God would give caring arms and help us to all know our fragile frame. His ways are not our ways. Peace.
Wow, my condolences to his family. I use this software from time to time and just coming to this site i see this; i am shocked. Thank you for writting this and may he rest in peace.
So sorry to hear of this news, such an unexpected and tragic accident. My sincere condolences to Phyllis and family. I have used cinelerra-gg for sometime. I didn’t know Bill personally, but when I boot up cinelerra-gg I often wonder at the amount of unseen complex magic going on in the background with his name on it. The world has lost a special and very talented person.
